Strange Jet sizes

Post by Shortarse » 01 Mar 2013, 19:02

Hello All
Took my MK1 out for its first run yesterday since I brought it before Christmas. The Carb has a mind of its own, bogging out, revving high, all sorts.Took it apart today and found that the main jet is 172 when the manual shows 132, the pilot jet is 50 and manual shows 45. The air screw was set correct at 2 - 1/4 turns. Shall I just return them to standard sizes ? I am not after performance just reliability.
Thanks in advance
Steve

If the air filter is intact and oiled then it will certainly run better with the standard jetting. What exhaust and silencer do you have :?: .

Just make sure everything is properly connected and sealed on the intake side of the engine.

It's a new, oiled filter and the exhaust system is standard, all very strange. Back to standard it is.

BE AWARE, someone might have bunged some very large jets in to compensate for an undiagnosed air leak.
You might get runaway racing of the engine :o :o .

Standard jets added, needle set to clip 3 (was on top clip), carb kit from Leisure Trail = New Bike !!! runs like a dream.
