Did you say "HAMMER" the crankshaft out of the cases, WTH.

They come out easily with a puller.

The actual bearing 91005-KAE-741is showing as discontinued now, are you using an alternative or have you got genuine Honda?

Unfortunately YES - hammered it out. It stuck in a left crankcase. And it wasn't easy. What is the tool you mentioned? Did you mean tool where you screw some bolts to crankase and then push it out? (similar to flywheel removing)? I need to get one if thats the case. Leisure Trail said they will balance the shaft..

Is that's what you had in mind helisupp? And what about instalation? Do I need another tool?

That will get the crank out, but if the bearing stays on the crank its a different tool.

I just pop down to local motorcycle workshop and give them a fiver, I found its not worth paying out so much money for a toll that will be used only a couple of times. Plus they have a press and other tools I may need (including heat).

OK I have received an fitted all of the goodies.
Full job was the best part of £200 with bearings and gaskets. All genuine parts from LT.
I will get £20 back if I send my balancer shaft back to LT but it might be an investment to keep it and get it sleeved locally The one they sent was nothing more than a steel sleeve ground to size. I am guessing it was tool steel or similar and possibly hardened.

Other jobs done at the same time were pumping the big dent out of my spanny at work. Its not all gone as I bottled it at about 11Bar but have since read I could have taken it to about 35Bar so next time I will be happy to hit it with at least 25Bar straight off.

Also drilled and tapped the oil pump bleed screw to M5 after stripping the M4 thread.

@2stroke
See links for pics of worn shaft.

The wear will be worse on the weighted side for obvious reasons. Mine is rippled and can be felt with my finger.

Sounds great, quick job, did you get crank checked out for any mallet damage, good that you can do it all yourself.

Its amazing how expensive parts actually are:

Imagine how much it cost to rebuild my spare engine which I keep in storage (all full of oil).

All gaskets
New crank
New top end
New clutch
All seals
All bearings crank and gearbox
Balancer shaft
Plus labour at leisuretrail

I did not mallet my crank :o that was a thread drift by someone else. I only changed balancer shaft and associated bearings. Engine stayed in bike.
For the record I would make a puller at work if I had to split cases. I am in charge of a maintenance department and tool room so we can make pretty much anything.

Excellent, I am a toolmaker by trade but due to changes in the industry I retrained into a different trade years ago

Wish I had access to a machine shop, even the smell of a machine shop is like engineering perfume to me. Call me anal but I even watch machining videos on youtube to keep up with whats happening and latest technology.

knackeredmk1 knows what I mean.

Our shop is old school. Latest additive tech is mindblowing.
