Piston differences

Post by juanseb » 28 Feb 2015, 16:56

I have just bought and received a piston that was some as being nos genuine Honda.

It's arrived in the original box with the correct part number but it a number of differences to the piston that head been removed from my ar.

There are quite a few differences in the casting but what really stands out is that this piston has a cut out / window of the inlet side skirt.

I don't believe this piston is an original ar piston can anyone confirm?

That is a TRX250 piston. All original CRM pistons have solid skirts.

It may have been a waste of money, your original piston seemed fine, just like my spare one, just put it back in.......................

Hey, its not just you that may have purchased something other than what you wanted.

Yesterday I saw a nice T shirt on the internet that I liked, so I clicked on it and ordered 4, then I changed my mind and went back a page and ordered only 1 as I was not sure about the shape.

How surprised was I when I looked closely after clicking "Pay now" on paypal................I have ordered and paid for 14 (fourteen) T shirts, wife is bloody mad at me.

I was just covering all bases, I will most likely be using my original but this piston popped up on ebay and I couldn't say no for £85.

Seems it was a bargain and had no picture for a reason, not to worry i am going through the ebay process sort things out.

I have another 2 original nos pistons on their way to me from overseas, I didn't necessarily need them but I was able to pick them up for reasonable money and well I don't see Honda producing another batch.

FYI TRX pistons are not made in the exact size of the AR bore.

No the AR is 66.4mm - See FAQs. You can of course reline them to 66.5 - this is quite common if the bore is marked as you have much better access to appropriate sized pistons.

I meant the closest trx piston is 66.5mm, ar is 66.4 with a, b & c kits.
