Fed up
I am now starting to get totally pi--ed of with this AR now. Finally got a spark and put some fuel in it, trying to start it and petrol flooding all over the floor. Removed the carb and cleaned it out, still no go . Then noticed petrol/oil mix piss -ng out from the exhaust port, removed the plug and it was totally flooded with petrol/oil.
Any ideas apart from setting fire to it??

Re: Fed up
Either the fuel inlet valve is stuck in an open position, or the floats are stuck in a downwards mode, thus calling for fuel.
Swan Vesta is THE match of choice I believe for the more discerning arsonist, so I'm told .
Unfortunately, owner input for the AR can be more onerous than other less technically advanced models.

Re: Fed up
Any 2 stroke with a stuck float valve will fill the engine and exhaust with fuel. I managed to start (on one cylinder) an RS250 with one exhaust full once and it sprayed about 2 litres of manky stale fuel everywhere.
Not really a drama. either the float has a hole in it, it is sticking or the float valve is letting by.
If the float is empty get a carb rebuild kit and she will be sorted.
Turn the tap off when not in use too (I always forget).

Re: Fed up
Also why is the autolube not working? I assume you are running pre-mix by your description?

Re: Fed up
It is autolube, the floats seemed ok when I cleaned the carb yesterday.
How do I check the inlet valve?

Re: Fed up
Take the carb off, put a hose on the fuel inlet, blow down it with the carb up the right way and you will hear air going through the valve. As you lift the float up the air should stop as the valve closes. you can either lift by hand or turn the carb over so its upside down.
The needle has a rubber end that wears out leaving a ridge that lets fuel by.

Re: Fed up
I've got the floats and valve from an MD24 engine. Are they the same for an AR? If they are then you can have them FOC if the other person that I have offered them to doesn't come back to me. I'll post tomorrow if you want and I don't hear anything from the other person. PM me your address.

Re: Fed up
Update.
Well I have got to admit while getting seriously peed off with the whole thing, but determined not to give in, I decided to delve deeper into the carb side of things.
After removing the carb completely I thought I would check the reeds as well, this is when I got that ( you great C---nt moment). Nestled deep inside the reeds was a lump of tissue .
Now I an assuming that was not helping matters so after syphoning all the two stroke oil out of the engine I am about to try again.
What a Knob!!

Re: Fed up
That will be a problem for starting it but not the original fuel pouring out of the carb problem.

We all have that T Shirt I know someone who filled his gearbox with Rock filter oil, instead of Rock gearbox oil , rushing to get a job finished.frostoff wrote:Update.
