AR using too much oil
I have bought an AR which was converted to premix. I have now changed it back to a pumped system although to save money found a second hand oil pump from a mark 2 which according to LT has same gearing. The thing is that if the pump is set to mark it uses a massive amount of oil, far more than a mark 2. On a short ride using 4 ltrs of fuel I had used 100 ml of 2 st oil whereas a mark2 on same ride only used 40 ml of oil. The bike is also a pig to start and only runs well when the throttle is open wide. Is this amount of oil usage right for an AR or do I need to look at sourcing the right pump?
I've got no idea what the oil consumption should be but are you sure the pump is definately off a Mk 2 ?? If LT say it's the same then I would say they are right. Poor starting etc would suggest something is not right carburation wise which may be contributing, but may not be. I suppose if you get an AR pump then you know it must be right and can start to fault find from there...

how does the bike run on premix? if its ok then would sugest oil is fouling the plug at low revs. hence running ok at full revs.the reason there run on premix is for better performance for racing.i would check the cable ,make sure it opens and shuts properly .what cable are you using?not sure if theres a difference between mk2 and ar.failing that sounds like a duff pump. keep us posted
