Post by mickstoy » 13 Jan 2007, 16:14

just fired my bike up for its monthly warm up (in storage) and while out havin a spin i was told my brake light was out iv racently fitted a new light unit so i assumed it was the bulb or one of the connections id made so i checked the bulb, fine! checked the connection in the unit, fine! checked the connections to the loom all fine!? if it was not working on either back or front brake id have something to go off but it doesnt work at all so im baffled! is there somewhere else that the wires from the rear and front brake join that i can check? tail light works fine just the brake
any ideas???

Hi Mick :) . Did the brake light work (front and rear), when you fitted the new light unit to the bike?

I fitted a new acerbis tail light to mt mk2 (looks a lot like yours).
When i first fitted it, the front switch woudnt work. Second attempt the rear switch wouldnt work. I eventualy got it to work with a lot of juggling with the wires. Maybe one of the wires is shorting out with another wire. Another problem i had, was that the bulb was a very tight fit, and didn't want to sit properly in the holder. If it was me, i would start with rewiring it, and take it from there. Hope this is of some help Mick. Good luck :)

cheers gwyn il do that this is an acerbis so it sounds like a good place to start the seat has been on and off a few times recently and if i remember correctly the wires run along the frame under the seat so i may have trapped something there
