Airbox and Exhaust questions

Post by Bargos » 27 May 2003, 10:43

Hi Guys,

The Mk2 stripdown continues...

I gave the airbox a real good cleanup over the extended weekend. The top of my airbox was a scene from some horror movie!! Half a dozen holes had been hacked out with a sharp instrument and in their place were some small inserts of foam. It looks as though someone has tried to 'tune' the bike to match the 'Big One' racing exhaust.

Aside from looking butt-ugly it mucks around with the airflow and helps water to pour straight over the air filter.

My question : have you got the same pipe as me and did you need to hack the airbox up/alter the carb jetting?

I want to leave the bike as it is but by the looks of things it will benefit from a proper tuneup and have the carb matched to the exhaust.

Hi,

I know im a slow mechanic but even I would be pushed to stretch things out to 3 years!!

Thanks for the interest though - I fixed it with some large strips of plastic and plenty of adhesive - she is water-tight now :-)

All I need to do is start using the thing again!
