went to the leek track yesterday, definitely the wrong time of year, way too slippery.couldn't get going, couldn't stop, couldn't steer and severely rutty, thoroughly enjoyed it  .well i say enjoyed, got sweaty, got covered from head to toe in staffordshires finest and proceeded to come off no less than 3 times DOH!.would be good for practicng, but only after a dry spell, jesus there was still patches of snow dotted about :!:
did 3hrs up there then went on to the stone quarry at harpur hill just outside of buxton, reasonable play area, but very rocky,a wheel breaker if you aint carefull plenty of big climbs and clay type mud.

davey, locally the track is known as morridge.cant give you a grid reference as i'm unsure of the exact position of the farm it belongs to,but if you follow the a53 out of leek towards buxton you'll see the mod danger area to the right of the a53,the morridge road is the first left after the danger area.the farm you'd need to find has a flag pole flying the u/jack,knock on the door they'll relieve you of the £5 and tell you where to go.to be honest davey theres not much left of the track i haven't bothered going again.
i've also been given details of another farm who'll let you use his land wich is right next to the a53 out of leek.leave leek on the a53 and when you drop into sollomons hollow and climb back up the otherside theres a large pull in/parking area on the right (the start of blackshaw moor level) .the pull in is the entrance to the farm, apparently he's held enduro's there before.i have been told its £7 allday but i've never got round to going up. O.S SK002 584 (roughly)
to be honest davey if your thinking of taking your crm up that way,you may aswell save the money cause you'd be 10 minutes away from some excellent lanes that you can use for free.
if you can get hold of copies of O.S EXPLORER maps OL 1 & OL 24 i could mark the lanes up for you or we could organise a day up there with the rest of the stokies
