oil pump
I need some advice again Guys. I was bleeding my oil pump on mk2 and the bleed screw has been bodged by previous owner,it will not tighten up also looks like the wrong screw. Now the problem is this,i took the pump of by undoing the two 8 mil bolts and there is a drive cog for the pump behind the casing, but it feels loose, this is probably normal but im worried that when i fit the pump it might jam up or not work the pump.ive just had the casing of to change the clutch and dont want to take it of again so does anyone know if this is normal.when i say loose its like the cog is not meshing with the other one, although when you fit the pump it could line it up.i dont know. oh and if anyone has a spare screw or is selling a pump let me know.cheers
mikey,
the bleed screw is 4mm thread by 0.7 pitch just ran a tap down by hand on an old pump should be able to get a new pin from a decent hardware shop, you'll also need a copper or alloy sealing washer for it.chances are you'll have to cut the new bolt down to the right size.check that the thread in the pump casing hasn't been damaged by the use of the wrong bolt type
the oil pump drive gear uses the internal of the pump housing as its locater,so when you remove the pump the gear will float around because it has nothing to keep it in the correct position as to wether you can reinstall the gear into the pump casing with out removing the clutch cover i wouldn't like to comment.
sorry i can't give you any more positive news but if it was me i'd have the clutch casing back off just to make sure everything is relocated properly

Never leave your misses near the tools.mikey11000 wrote:you could have a point there slider, thinking about it ,it is very close to a few shoe shops lol. anyway phoned the shop today ,its gonna cost about £15 to tap the pump, but now ive got to strip it all down again. maybe i should get the wife to do that and all.
I came home from work one day to find my misses trying to drill holes in a flower pot, using my cordless drill with a pozidrive bit in it
