Cardigan Bay Run 15th July 2007

So off we set (me and Jason that is)
After a last minute plan of mine to ride directly east into the rain storms that were heading west, the idea was to get to some reasonably dry weather fo most of the day by passing through to the other side of the rain as quickly as possible
We headed into Brynaman and took a little twisty road from there over Mynydd Isaf to Trapp and on to Llandeilo, from there we picked up the B4300 another twisty back road and both were very good too even if they were a bit mucky and wet, this road took us all the way into Carmarthen and from there we had to get onto the A40 due to lack of any other nice road to take towards St Clears where we got onto teh A477, another fairly boring road especially as it was chock full of car and caravans :x , not too far before we got to Deans house at about 12:30 where we had a nise cuppa before heading off to fill our bellies on burgers from the market, a big double cheese and bacon burger (mmmm bacon), then off to Haverfordwest via the bridge over Neyland and onto the B4329 through the Preseli Mountains, this road looked promising on the map and no doubt it would have been a lot better had it not been wet and covered in crap, it's a long one though, going all the way up to Cardigan, here we too a breather down at the quayside and at last I managed to get the camera out

Cardigan, Dean and Jason (I'm havin' a fag)

As we were about to leave Dean decided to impress a couple of 6 year olds and their fathers by doing a burnout (youngsters eh :D )

Then it was off down the A484, another nice road, good for sports or SM's really though Jason and myself aren't used to coming up behind so may cars.
I think it was off this road where we stopped at the waterfall/river ??? (Dean)

CCM at the waterfall (none of the XT cos Jason was too chicken to take it onto the rocks, mind you, Dean backed his up onto them ::)

A little video of the river (it's only 1mb)

Into Newcastle Emlyn then onto the A475, another good one which takes us through to Lampeter where we picked up the A482, this is a lovely twisty road mainly through woodland with rivers here there and everywhere
It was on this stretch that we came up behind a car who decided to go for it and give us a run, I was at the back Dean in the middle and Jason at the front hugging teh cars bumper to wind him up a bit, after a while I thought it might be a good idea to embarass the driver by blatting past on my little 250 stink wheels, so I passed Dean then went up the inside of Jason, I was watching for an opportunity to stuff it up the inside of the car and lorry which was now in front of him, too late a straight came and the car overtook the lorry so off we set in hot pursuit picking up the pace, my spirits were getting up and I started to go for it on a bend, then uh oh engines dying, damn, feking thing went onto reserve right at a critical point, bummer, oh well
Got it gong again and steamed off through the twisties, I must say that I found the roads nearer to us like this one far better than those in Pembrokeshire, maybe it was the amount of holiday traffic they have but I think it's also because they're tighter and twistier.
A bit further on and I had Dean wishing he had his helmet cam on as a cranked it over round a tight one just to find there was a pile of gravel strewn accross teh road, teh back end slid out then gripped again and threw the bike into a real wobbly weavey fishtail mid corner, no problem cos it didn't sink in til three bends later when I realised what happened and found meself thrupenny biting the bend thinking "Jesus that was close"

On down to Llandovery for a nice cuppa before Dean headed back towards home and Jason and me set off over the Black Mountain road (A4069) which is a fantastic road and probably one of the best there is

All in all it was a great day and really puts the fair weather riders to shame cos they don't know what they're missing
Good company, good food and great roads even when wet, 160 miles in all with a top speed indicated by the datalogger (which I'm absolutely certain is faulty officer) of 83mph

EDIT
oh crap looks like Photobucket links don't work here
