re jetting carb

Post by baker21 » 25 Sep 2007, 23:35

I have a mk2.2 that im rebuilding,at the moment it has a dep tail pipe on and an after market filter, ive just brought some aktive reeds. The engine is a standard bore tho the rings seem to be abit worn so was thinking rather just messing about with rings getting the barrel borred .5 over and having a new piston to match to save messing with it again in the future. With this setup would i be best to re jet the carb?if so what sort of sizes would i be looking at and how mutch?cheers.

going to try a TRX piston mod? Wouldn't boring the engine out .5mm lower compression, therefore forcing you to lose some power?

yes was going to get a wiseco piston, would be 67 oversize alltho mine is the standard bore i can can get a good deal on the piston if i go up to that size
The trx is the same size as the crm one i believe as long as you get the one from the right year 87-89 the only diffrence being the size or the pin being 1mm smaller but a new little end will sort that out i believe so shouldnt lower the compression :?

just orderd a shiny new wiseco piston 67mm quite a big step in bore size but couldnt turn it down for £32 posted :Dmay need to up the jet size now but will run it for abit first to see if all is well.i will be dropping the block off to pj engineers in wolverhampton as soon as it arrives to get the barrel bored to size, thought this was the best way to go rather than just spending £30+ just for some rings.(just hope it fitts  )
