throttle monkey forum ride in the peaks, now with added video

as the title says, heres my report from the throttle monkey site:

well the day didnt start to well for me,about a mile from home my bike coughed, burped and stopped,BUGGER!. i'd had the thing stripped of its body work for a thorough jet washing and to fit the new plastics and graphics kit that had been sitting around the house for a couple of months.my first thought was that i'd somehow managed to get the cleaning solution or water in the carb's float bowl (even though i blocked up the hose before cleaning),so i wipped the plug out to dry it off and emptied the carb.it still wouldn't fire properly so i repeated the process a couple of times at it still wasn't running as it should so i decided to swap the plug for my spare.first kick and it ring ting tingged into life :banghead: .so annoying because the plug was a new one that i'd fitted after the last t/monkey ride, when my bike ran like a sack of s**t and refused to start of the kicka 50% of the time,i guess the crm doesn't like having its monkey throttled,eh?.
by now i'm running late to meet up with the others at solomons hollow so get a bit of a spurt on to get there.i finally arrive about 1/2 hour late to meet kingy, bill & wide open, they get kitted up and of we set off.on the way up to the first lane we're travelling on a minor country road that has lots of shaded areas where the ice still hadn't melted so i'm proceeding with caution,a little further on and i see what looks like water running across the road, bang,i'm on my ar*e and the bikes doing a cracking job of grooming the grass verge, the running water turned out to be sheet ice.one new pair of gloves ruined,my fox mx trousers have recieved a new ventilation system and the r/h/s side of my bars are about 1 1/2" further back.mmmmmm, this isn't going well!
we eventually get on to the lanes and head on over to do the river run at wildboarclough.bill was a bit concerned with the idea of riding up a stretch of river, but actually handled it really well.on the other hand, mike (wide open) must have thought we'd booked in for a scuba course as he ditched the bike twice to my knowledge  ,never mind mate there arent any photo's,just a video!!.next ,onto cumberland cottage and over to the a54,then onto three shires
heres a pic or two of the group on the bridge

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x44/ ... md2002.jpg

three shires completed with out incident,we carried on towards hollinsclough.we dropped down the difficult step section and onto the easier route back up the hill

everyone at the top it was time for a bit of chit chat and a fag(for me anyway),then off to tenterhill.
no problems on the rock steps going down and as the head cam was still running i gestured to kingy to do the complete run through the river and he very nicely obliged, giving the wr a fistfull at the sametime, very spectacular right upto the point where he nearly rides up the side of the bridge  .good show mate  .off we set up the other side of tenter and the usual chaos that the slippy cobbles and the rock step provide saw a bit of pushing and bike up righting before we carried on.

leaving tenterhill, we navigated our way via the lanes to monsal head where we caught up with another group going in the same direction.each group leap frogged the other to make light work of the gates and we left them at the bridge at the bottom of monsal where they pulled over.
another lane or two and we were at rowland,i told kingy to hold the group back for a few seconds so i could get up to the water splashes and get the camera out,he didnt get chance, bill and mike were hot on and shot off after me so i didnt get chance to get them on film, but heres kingy going through them

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x44/ ... md2015.jpg

we stopped in calver some fuel and a bite to eat, when i find out its 2pm and i've gotta be at work for six for a nightshift, so hurriedly made up a new route back to the vans via some lanes around stoney middleton, highfields, tideswell and burbage.by this time the temperature had dropped and we were all a little cold when we arrived at the layby,i said my good byes to paul, bill, mike and mikes boxer and road the 20 miles to home another good day out finished.
i'll try and get the vids edited over the weekend and post em up as soon as!

p.s heres a pic of kingy chasing bill on foot up hollinsclough after bil passed him and kingy had fallen off

bill, mike that was what happened wasn't it???(all nod in agreement)

steve.

(just in case you dont get the p.s bit, kingy had stopped to help bill and his bike ended up lying down, but seen as he'd been taking the p**s outa bill all morning i thought this would be a bit of a come uppance  )

Great report but I thought you said there were no rocks on the routes in the Peaks
Thats a great pic of the WR being pushed up hill, it really looks steep. Every time I take a photo on a steep hill it always makes it looks flat.

i think i forgot to tell you that the cam has been superglued to the lid now and is operated by a pressure pad inside it,so i cant wear the helmet without filming
