hello everbody

Hoping to join the 2 stroke brigade in the next few days am looking at a couple of crm,s ,a mark two and a three which is the best? or should i be looking for a AR.Not new to greenlaning also own a DRZ400E and a XR600 just fancy something lighter to play on so any advice would be welcome

Hi. Go for good condition. Mk3 is better but a snotter Mk3 is v. poor compared to a mint Mk2. Don't worry about an AR - too complicated.

i havent had much experiance with the mk3 i have had 2 mk2's and they are superb so my choice would be a mk2

Hi japexup,
I've got the mark 3 but my recommendation would always be to buy on condition.
Some of these bikes have had a hard life and take a lot of money to sort out so take your time and get a good one,
whatever mark it might be.
They really are a great bike once you get them sorted.

Hi, have to agree with all of the above. My Mk 2 looked pretty sorry in the Ebay pics, but luckily was close enough to go see. As youve got off road gear, you know that new tyres, chain and sprockets, bearings and levers and pads can soon suck up £150+. My tatty Mk2 was actually pretty sound where it mattered, and I prefer the 'go' rather than the 'show'! All the CRM's are fine! (Although Im not too tempted by an AR, sorry AR fans!)

Welcome mate. I am pretty new myself having bought a mk3 a few weeks back. Great bike and a nice bunch on here.

Err thanks for that warm welcome Mike..I think!!

And if you ever get the AR down this way ( May or September are best times, i reckon, good weather and not too many emmetts), this fat old carrot cruncher on his Mk 2 will show you the way..to the best pasty shops! I'll pack a multimeter, oscilloscope and laptop on the Flintstones Mk 2 just in case yer NASA AR needs re-booting half way round...hee hee.

this emmett will be in town in AUG/SEPT 'but its even worse than being just an emmett'cause im a dumpling emmett .
Hailing from Okehampton .Hope you won't hold that to much against me.
I did a one day day lane tour with the late great and much missed J.D. which was a super day out and left me with a taste for more.

Well' be staying near Wadebridge [about 30th time] I've just got to sell the idea to the missus that taking the bikes on hols is a sensible way of protecting them while were away from the house.

I rode with J.D. in the south eastern corner of Cornwall. What area do you normally ride in? 'does that new raft of lane closures the county councils just confirmed affect you?

Hi Mike,
Yeah, back when I rode enduros, I had a Husky. JD was a Husky dealer back then. He used to ride most of the SWEC rounds, even was clerk of the course for the Dunmere one year...so he put back in, for sure. Always the mark of a true pro, when he came to overtake me, which he did often, wasnt any shouting, swearing, tooting...just a 'Oi, oi' or a bit of a rev, and I'd pull over. Always a wave or 'thanks' as he passed.
Im Liskeard, which is def SE cornwall. My mate used to run Celtic Trail Rides, but the guy who runs it now uses this area and is very good too. Sometimes advertise in TBM.
You ever fancy Long Distance Trials? Thats a kinda trail ride with some sport thrown in too. My Mk 2 is so I can get back into them, lots to choose down this way.
