vee rubber trials tyres

Any one tried these out.I normally run mt43s but thought i would give one of the vees a ago.I now wonder after fitting it if I've dropped a clanger' its quite a bit skinnier than the MT and longer blocks as apposed to wider .Also the tread isn't as deep how longs that going to last

I ride about 80% on road , and have just fitted a set of Continental TKC 80 Twinduros . They perform superb on the road and are not too bad off road , they also look pretty good too . I've only done about 200 miles on them so I can't comment on wear , but I hope they will last well ! I got them from :

I took the bike out today for a test with the Vee rubber fitted' the test consisted of some roadwork some grassy field work 'some grassy/ compacted earth banks and some council provided spoil heaps of road planning s
I was running with 10 psi and the ground conditions were dry.
Road work
The slightly more rounded profile of this tyre allows for a more sporting ride without worrying when your going to roll over the edge of the tread pattern 'feels pretty good on the road.

Grassy field
This is where the more rounded profile wasn't as nice' under both heavy breaking and acceleration the back end would be constantly getting away from you leading to corner line adjustments or feathering the throttle while the tyre tried to find the grip level being asked of it. Once found it was fine allowing easy lofting of the front wheel to clear obstacles.

Grassy banks/ compacted earth banks
Placing the front wheel at the bottom of a 5ft bank with no run up and a slope of about 70 degrees' the bike and tyre were constantly able to find enough traction to drive up this without any drama.

Loose heaps of road planning's
Once again i think the more rounded tyre profile allowed the tyre to wander of your chosen line and this would lead to much wheel spinning and clutch abuse to recover forward motion.

Would i buy another one?
Based on today's shortish test' probably not' but a bit more use and some competitive outings will tell.

Wear rate
Well after just one short outing the tyre already looks like a well worn Pirelli MT43 so it doesn't look promising on that front either.
Cost
I paid about £39.00 inc vat + del so a bit of a saving on a MT43 but probably not enough to bring me back again.

O/k here's an update on the V RUBBER after using it in a club trial today.I rode in the trail bike class 'it was wet and continued to rain all day 'which probably didn't help in the grip stakes.

This tyre is totally CR@P its an utter w@nker do not buy one for anything more adventurous off roading than a carpark.

Its back to MT43 s from now on.
