Hi Guys,

Just bought a S reg crm 250 AR, to use for a bit of green laning, apparantly the bike has recently had a "rebuild" and to be honest it seems to be running really well at the moment, the powervalve operates perfectly and after having just put a new back tire on it (gritty) it even wants to lift in third.

A couple of questions i have if someone would have a mment to answer them.

1) Im a bit dubious of trusting the autolube system, ive filled it up and it seems to burn 2 stroke ok as i have had to top it up after using it twice however how trustworth are they? should i continue to use it or start premixing to make sure?

And

2) What basic checks should i carry out to make sure it doesnt let me down halfway down a green lane some way from home.... im not sure how ofter these should be rebuilt.

I'd upload a picture of it but cant seem to work out how.....

ayup mylo,use the autolube on mine with no probs(mk2) i think its the same setup on the ar barring the oil tank

general servicing should take care of reliabilty issues,check wheel and suspension bearings regularly,ditto regarding chai/sprocket,brake pad condition etc.

i'd do a few road miles on her first after checking coolant/oil levels,see how she runs then re-check levels on your return home

Good advice from Slider, i would add that,s its always worth carrying a breakdown kit with you which IMO should contain,
a front tube =21 inch =fits both wheels.
spare split link =used if poss.
puncture repair kit,inc, tyre inflation device.
spare new plug& spanner.
Master fuse 15 amp x2 .
A few basic tools inc. of screw driver, double ended if pos, blade + philips. spanners 8+10+12+14mm +BAHCO 6" ADJUSTABLE wrench= 25mm opening jaws will do both front and back wheel nuts . Good quality multi tool. 4" mole type grips, they make a good gear changer in an emergency, cable ties, any where you can stash them, ie down steering stem, where you can see them.Its surprising what you can hold together with them.
A small selection of nuts and bolts, 6mm thread.
A lump of that two part chemical aluminium is useful to repair a holed casing or lever end.
one of them really dinky WD40 spray cans, can help get a drowned motor running again.

Thanks Slider and Mike,

All good advice, mind you if i take all that gear out with me my mates will probably think im off on a long way round trip with a camera crew following me.

Think Ill just give the bike a once over before i take it out.

Then probably break down on it, push it half way home then just call my mate and get him to pick me up in his van. Then it will probably sit in my garage for a couple of years collecting dust, and my misses will sell it for a fiver without telling me to the little kid next door, he will then restore it and ill be P#ssed off with seeing him ride it up and down my road everyday.

Lets hope things dont go that way.

Ill keep ya posted.

P.S can i put a picture of the winner up on here?

Well i can up that offer to a tenner right here and now , bike unseen :lol: and i won,t pi55 you off by riding up and down your road , no sir , i have some particularly odious neighbours of my own that i could then pi55 off in stereo, they actually sent another neighbour round to complain about my van being parked in the [private road ] because she couldn,t see her kids playing in the road :roll: :roll: and riding their electric bikes about on the road , ain,t that an ASBO offence :?: .

Sounds like a nice machine you have there, can I ask how much you paid for it, as I am trying to guage what these things cost?

Skip the premix completely. It's a pain and the amount of oil in the mix is only correct for when you are flat out - any other time you are only coking up your motor or belching smoke.

And I'll beat fallenmike's offer with an offer of £21.34 and a bag of cheesy whotsits.

After a good day out riding i notice the bike is leaking 2 stroke oil, may have been from when i dropped it half way up a huge hill.

I cleaned it up and tightened the jubilee clip on the pipe that connects onto the bottom reservior but it still seems to be leaking a bit.

Ill investigate at the weekend, but before i go mad pulling bits off it anyone got any ideas...?

Dont think its too serious but it is loosing quite alot of oil overnight, any that lovely silkolene it too expansive to throw on the floor...!

It is definately leaking out of the pipe from the stroker oil tank?

If it was recently rebuilt, then the stroker oil would need to have been bled through. Is the bleed screw done up properly?

Thanks Hamster..... where is the screw....? or are you talking about the jubillee clips either end of the hose....?
