Intermittent Cutting Out
Hope someone can help!!
My MK2 has developed an (very) intermittent fault, which I suspect is related to the wires behind the headlight cowl. The fault probably won't happen again for a few weeks, but yesterday it caused a couple of sudden cut outs for only a second or two whilst doing 70mph on the A1 and whilst trail riding it wouldn't start on one occasion.
What makes me think its electrical is that when its in neutral and the light is on, it occasionally flickers when the bike is running and thinking about stopping, if I then stick my hand between speedo and back of headlight and 'jiggle the wires around' the neutral light either comes back to full intensity or the bike cuts out completely. When it wouldn't start the neutral light didn't even light up when I was kicking it which it does when kicking from cold or it doesn't start on the first kick.
I have talked to LT and they suggest removing the side stand switch which I have done, and I though the problem had been fixed but it started again yesterday.
Electrics aren't my strong point so if anyone has any ideas I need them in simple easy to follow terms.
I suspect kill switch or ignition switch or wiring to one or both - but not sure what to do next.

Re: Intermittent Cutting Out
pull off the headlight assembly, get her running and start wiggling wires.
Re: Intermittent Cutting Out
to bypass the kill switch, follow the wire to the block connector, then short the block with 2 spade connectors on a bit of cable, between the two wires and that will tell you if the kill switch is a problem or not. also try the big round capacitor, as this could cause problems if the connections aren't great. other than that just disconnect every connector and give it a spray with WD40, then go from there.
