Wheel bearings.

Post by Z1K » 18 Feb 2009, 01:37

I need front and rear bearings and seals. I read through the what fits what thread and it only gives numbers for the rear. L-6303 & r-6203.

Am I correct to assume that these prices from LT are for sets (2) and not each:

Wheel Bearings All models Fronts £5.95 Rears £6.95 Wheel Bearing Seals Front & rear £6.75

Are there any other bikes that share the bearings and seals with the MK1 so I could get a set locally?

I think you will find the prices are each. You can take the bearings and seals down to a local bearing place as they are common enough. Prices will be a little cheaper but not hugely.

I might as well just pick up the whole kit from LT since I'll be ordering the seals from them anyway.

I have used the below with good results, on the seals you may have to compromise .05 mm or so on thickness, but for the saving , IMHO, that's fine .
PS do not use the dearest bearings as these are designed for extreme hard wearing situation and are to rigid for wheel purposes.

It pays to have a digital set of calipers, i bought mine from LIDLs £6.00 and they have proved a great piece of kit.
By all means use LTs they do give a good service, but it's always worth having a second option, some playing with the calipers will soon give you the confidence to order bearings from your measurements .
