rectifier/regulator

Post by CR Mmmmm » 16 Mar 2009, 17:52

Can any one, but specifically Kernow Krusty tell me if I have a knackered regulator, would that stop me from getting a spark. Leisure Trail can,t tell me for definate, but they will sell me new one for £180.00. I,m running out of patience and money. The bike is an A.R. Thanks in advance K.K.

Kevin, if push comes to shove,we could try your, apparently duff, reg/rec , on my bike , as long as some one can give a reasonable assurance that that procedure is unlikely to send my electrics up the swanny.

Mike my hero, I was thinking today about the same thing, If I popped my pcm, and regulator in the post, you would be able to run it on your bike, without any harm coming to yours. I could bring it in the car, but thought you may have seen enough of me. Thanks Ledge. Kevin.

aftermarket reg/rect avaliable from Electrex - you will need to change connectors and posible extend some wires as althought they advertise it for all MKs it isn't a direct swap on an AR - do a search for other posts about this.
Regarding risking your CDI Mike - you don't want to try your CDI with CRMmmmm possibley broken Reg/Rect. Best thing would be to try both his reg/rect and CDI on your bike.

Thanks Mark, I was just going to find the post, but you had sent the link, great minds thinking alike again, "spooky". I have done the test, and my reg is knackered. I will hate doing this but I will try and get one on e-bay. I will ask whoever I get it from that I do not want it if there is any chance that it has come from a nicked bike, I don,t want people suffering just to save me money. I will talk to the people Mark has suggested first though. Regards. Kevin.

Iv,e had a quick search on the site, but I need to get this sorted pronto. Are all regulators the same for all mks. I need to get one quick for my A.R. I have looked at electrex, but their reg/rec have different connectors meaning that I,m going to bastardise my loom, and I don,t fancy doing that.

;) Thorpspeed Kev , just do it , you can use the wire from your duff reg/rec to make up a new replacement electrex item at a later date, and at your leisure.

Mike, I have e-mailed thorpspeed already, awaiting his reply. He does,nt list one for the A.R. but he may well have one. He might be a bit pissed off with me because I told him I did,nt want anything fitted on my bike if there,s any chance it came of a nicked bike. If he gets the hump I.ll know the bastards guilty. Pretty clever, or pretty stupid. You decide.

I have e-mailed Thorpespeed racing, his name is Darren and I think he,s as straight as a Die. He does every check that he can possibly do before he buys a bike. He is a biker, and was not offended with the questions I asked him, but he has,nt got a regulator at the moment. What a Bummer.
