Am looking a replacement brake pads for the AR. My riding is 75%offroad. When on the road it is at highway speeds. Looking a the EBC catalogue it days this:
STREET USE BRAKE PADS : a choice of world top selling organic brake pads (with
Kevlar® fibre) or heavy duty sintered metal HH brake pads, shown as the FA series in
the material selection columns 1 and 6. EBC’s sintered metal Double-HTM pads are
ideal for heavier and faster street use motorcycles and have longer life than organics.
ENDURO, MOTO-X AND QUADS : EBC offers three choices, one for each of these
markets. For Enduro (Tout Terrain) EBC offers its new red coated carbon graphite
formula pads with TT suffix (shown in columns 1 & 6). For moto-x use riders choose
between “R” suffix sintered metal pads or the latest MXS series sintered pads
complete with new slider pins shown in columns 2 and 7.
I have no idea about the braking effect between sintered, organic or what the TT or R suffix is or whether it is safer to go for road or offroad pads considering I do a mix. If anyone can enlighten me and/or tell what they run then that would be helpfull.

:D Hi Mark , i run the EBC FA131TT, in my brakes, they last a reasonable amount of time in varied going, but this is reduced if used more in sandy/gritty going.
They give a good feel of what's happening out back ,and when the wheel is going to lock up.
You can go for harder pads, but the trade off is, less feel, and more disc wear.
My riding is about 20% off road :cry: to 80% on road, hunting for more Byways :D .

do you run the FA131TT on the front as well cos the catalogue shows FA185TT for the front?

I would imagine that pad life is limited where you are and would recomend sintered pads :?: .

Yes mate, and change B/ Fluid twice a year.
As a warning to others, do not get any of that copper slip stuff on the rubber, bits of the callipers, it kills them stone dead.

reminds me of a letter I read once in the Technical Help pages of a bike mag - this for real!
This guy wrote in saying that he had squeaky brakes so he sprayed them with WD40 and that whilst the squeaking had gone away his brakes wheren't as effective as before - what should he do? :o

i have just changed the front brake pads on my car and got a little sachet of a new grease from mintex. apparently it's because the copperslip interfears with some ABS systems. so if your after a good anty squeel compund then this is your stuff.
