Corrosion inhibiter

Hello

I've just bought a pair of second hand wheels for my MK2 - both are better than what I already have. Having cleaned them up I have detected a small amount of corrosion on the inside of the front wheel.

So my question....can anyone reccomend a readily available paint suitable for aluminium that I can put on the inside of the rim to slow the corrosion process down?

you could use any paint to make it nice but nothing now short of re annodising will stop it. it should be ok as long as it hasnt started breaking up and gone all papery, then its scrap! i have also just bought a good condition, tight spokes, front wheel and am in the process of cleaning the crappy rim and unseizing the loose spokes! and all this for 100 notes.
Just remember not to put tape on the rim as this accelerates rotting of the rim.

I'd recommend ACF50 (or CorrosionX) which is what we use in aircraft. it is a anticorrosion spray that leaves a thick film and actually stops corrosion spreading. having just done a quick google search it appears that the motorcycle industry is already onto it, mandp are selling it so it should be easily avaliable.

I usually just coat the whole bike in silcone spray after it's been washed. resists any moisture entering and makes washing any dirt off next time
round much easier.
