CRM mk2 running problem

hi all,
I took the plunge and bought a crm today after a large gap from owning my previous one.
Anyway I tested the bike at the guys estate I bought it off and it all seemed fine, but then I got it home started it up and took it for a little ride around my road. Now the problem with it is, when you let off the throttle it seems to stall ( not all the time, but most of the tme especially when going quicker then slowing down ) It ticks over fine when standing but will stall after a while, and sometimes quite quickly.
Anybody know what this could be?

forgot to add that when I do slow down and it starts to stall, it wont rev back up again. Its a bit like riding along and then suddenly turning the ignition key off. But everything is still on. If that makes any sense lol

It could be all manner of things.

First change the spark plug for a new one (NGK BR9ES). When you take the old plug out look at the colour and note that and the condition of the electrodes.

Then take the carb off and apart. Clean everything and note down the sizes of the jets and the needle position. Also note how far out the air screw is before you take it apart.

Finally, look at the air filter, clean it, oil it and put it back.

Put it all together, take it for a run and report back.

It cam with a BR8 ES plug. But is the BR9 ES plug that you are suggesting better?

ECU Possibly............. but let's sort out less expensive options.

Would the previous owner admit to a potentially expensive problem without already telling the buyer first :?:

Right I've put a new plug in it today, tried it out and it was still cutting out. So I took the carb off, gave it a good clean, blew through jets etc, put the carb back on the same as I took it apart ( or so I thought ). Then the bike wouldn't fire up so I bumped it rode it around a bit and it still was running the same but smoking like mad, then I parked it up in my garage and noticed fuel pouring out the filter box, so took the carb off and fuel went everywhere, also it pretty much used all the 2 stroke I put in earlier that day ( 1 litre ). Thought obviously the float is staying down and not sealing, so took the carb apart again and all looked fine, bent the little metal flap on the float and tried again and it was still flooding everywhere. Took it apart again and I cant for the life of me figure out why its doing it. Then to top it all off the little needle that fits in the hole under the float fell out my hand onto the floor and I cant for the life of me find it :(
Anyone have any suggestions what the flooding could be?
Also where the get a little needle thing ( dont know the proper name lol ) from?

Float needle, try an find this if you can, the original will seal better. Sounds like you originally put the carb back together wrong, probably the float pivot pin wasnt in right - causing it to flood. Best not to bend anythin, it wasnt flooding until you had a fettle.

It must have been doin some smokin to use a litre of oil! Sure you`ve not got a leak?

Just read your post again (properly this time)

Check the operation of the oil pump, you might of pulled a cable or somethin whilst fettlin with the carb.

You can check the operation of the carb float too by turnin the petrol on whilst the float is held up (when you find the float needle)... should pee petrol out when you let the float drop an seal again when you hold it up. You`ll probably have to set the float height again.

1) Which part have you lost :?: . Do try to find it again otherwise try LT.

2) You really should not have to bend things/make adjustments if you have only taken the carb apart.

3) By 'pretty much used up all 2 stroke' what do you mean :?: . There is no way you should have used that much oil (1 litre). Are you premixing oil in your petrol or are you pouring 2 stroke oil into the tank just in front of the headstock :?:

Theres no leaks or anything, I am putting the 2 stroke in the frame and thats all. I dont understand why it used that much 2 stroke tbh. The petrol does stop coming out when I turn the petrol on with the carb apart and the float in place and push up on it ( obviously when I had the float needle ) And everything seems fine, but when you put it together properly it just gushs out.
The part in that diagram that I have lost is number 2.
Its doing my head in quite a bit now as the bike was working perfectly when I tested it at the sellers house. So cant really complain too much.

Right, I fully tore my garage apart today, and couldn't find the bloody thing anywhere. So I've ordered a new one from Leisuretrail. Should be here tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes and if it still floods. Then if thats fixed it will be back to my main problem.....

Record what jets you have and the position of the needle before you put it back together.
