stuck in gear.

Post by phil1 »

we went to wales this weekend but i had to blow out on the 2nd day as my bike got stuck in 1st gear with a 20mile ride back, great fun with a 48t rear sprocket  eventually found 2nd and after a while 3rd gear, but something major has happen as its not moving around.
has anyone had this and can anyone advise what it might be?
the selector rod is ok, so i will have the clutch off and get a good look at that fiddly bugger of a gear selecter set up.
any tips appreciated.

Perhaps the return spring on the gear lever on the inside. Or bent dogs at worst case.
Looking at a strip i suspect, at least its a chance to replace the outer mains and crank seals for good measure

yep, got the clutch side off and it looks like a full strip down, do you think i should change the piston rings while its out? they have about 4000kms on them.

If there is blow by on the piston then yes, but for the cost of them it wont do any harm. just means running it in again really. Would defo do the outer mains and crank seals though
