Replacement parts

Post by prism7guy »

hi
there is an offroad park near where i live, at finningley. and the track is sand, which is very abrasive, and will wear out all moving parts very fast, currently i need the brake pads, chain (on its way out), and bearings replacing, so do you think im as well to go there a couple of times before i replace the parts with new ones?
Are there any other parts which will be worn while there?
Thanks.
ste.
p.s. how much are a set of bearings (to re-do front and rear wheels) and brake pads (front and rear) for a crm250 mk1.
thanks again.

Hi
Depends on how worn the parts are, you do not want pads wearing out completely & wrecking your discs.
Bearings wise, changing these will just improve your bikes handling.

Brake pads
Front - EBC FA185 about £15
Rear - EBC FA153 (mk2 on – FA131) about £15

Wheel Bearings
Front – 6202 - 2 off (mk2 on – 6003) about £3 each
Rear – 6303 – LH & 6203 – RH about £4 each
Rear seals – 25x40x7 – 2 off about £2 each

Air filter
The same as XR400 about £7 non genuine or about £20 for genuine

Also check the suspension bearings, makesure they are well greased this will help keep sand etc out.

thanks.
there is still 1mm on brake pads or so, so they arent fully worn out, but on their way.
it was MOt'd yesterday, and there is a little play in the bearings. The chain has been on since we bought it in summer, and ill have to check the grease on the suspension bearings.
thanks a lot.

I have only just got home from finningly and would love to ride there. it takes me about 15mins to get there from my house. how do you transport your bike there?
I am definatly gonna be going to either finningly (Doncaster moto park) or armthorpe very soon.

I have a three bike trailer to take my bike to the tracks 8)

i havent been there on my bike yet, but if i was to go, my dad would probably ride there with me on back, its about 10 mins from my house, in the future i am getting a motorbike trailer made, so far ive got a good axle, and im ordering the 'L' shaped steel at work on saturday. Shouldnt take too long to make after that. I want to go to finningley soon too. The first week of the easter holiday im away on D of E gold, but the second week im sure i could peel myself away from all the coursework for a day.
I think finningley is only open on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesdays, and is £15 a day for 250cc and above, but thats only a rough guide.
maybe we could go there in easter.

sounds like some sort of plan, keep me informed and i will book some time off of work, the wednesday would be good as it should be quieter than the weekends. its been a couple of years since i have been on a track and my knees are still bending the wrong way so i will have to take it easy.

but it will be a good day out :D

sounds painful, my knees arent up to much as they are, without ever falling off my bike. They are just crap, mym dad had similar probs a while back, but his went, and mine only hurt occasionaly.
Anyway, my dad doesnt look promising to take a day off work (new job) so i may need to order my metal fairly soon, you couldnt by any chance take some piccies of your trailer and maybe some dimensions for me could you? As this would be very helpful.
I heard from someone from school that there are 2 tracks at finningley, a beginner and advanced, ill probably be sticking to the beginner track, as it will be my first ever track, and i also heard there is a track through the local woods which honda use to test their bikes in, may have a look at that.

hi
im 16, which sucks as i really want to be able to ride to places on my own instead of having to rely on everyone else, oh well, ill be driving soon, and even sooner ill have my own trailer. I will probably be going to finningley this saturday, just to watch, it would be nice to meet, ill be turning up at about 2:30pm (or just after), what time were you planning on going?
