water pump

hello I a have recently stripped my old water pump out of mk mk3 and bought a new one I have just got the bits from LT and I am starting the rebuild job BUT I am havin a few problems on how to go about it it seems like you have to push the mechanical seal in to the casing and I also cant work out what order the seals go in I have worked out 1 of them sits behind the impellor is there any special tools what have to be used any help will be really usefull thanks

Thanks I have a maual from LT and the diagram for the water pump looks different from the one you have posted your diagram looks more correct how do I put the mechanical seal in to the casing is it the same as puttin a bearing in

Make certain that the housing that you are going to put it in is completely clean and then push it in. You could use a socket to push it in if it is a good fit around the 'sprung' section on to the metal part.
