John you are probably right  .

Skinny - If you are using premix you need to bung up the hole in the inlet manifold where the oil goes in from the pump and seal the pump. Eventually you need to drain the oil and remove all the piping. You can remove the oil pump but you need to take the whole clutch cover off to remove the oil pump drive shaft and seal the space where the pump sits.

Regarding Mike's Q, the bike has not run well at all since I've had it, which has been a rather short time.
Before now, the biggest issue was actually getting it to start, which has finally been achieved.

I'm not running on premix by choice, but by necessity. I was told by the mechanic that the oil pump is "not working". Well, my friend who was dealing with the mechanic while I was out of the country, was told this by the mechanic. I'd much rather be using the bike's oil injector than premixing. Is there any article on fixing a CRM oil pump? Sorry, I did search but couldn't seem to find anything detailed in oil pump diagnostics...

Will i need to just replace the whole oil pump system? Is it cheap/expensive/easy/difficult?

SO... I don't know if the oil pump inlet has been bunged up or not...

I don't plan on riding the bike until it's running 100%, so my mission right now is to get it there.

Thanks for all the help so far, this forum rocks!

Oh yeah the mechanic also said that the powervalve is not working and left it permanently open.

Could you be getting too much oil because the oil pump is working :?: . Disconnect the piep from the pump to the inlet rubber and put it into a small bottle taped to the engine. - You can use this to see if/how much oil comes out when running. Block the pipe that goes into the inlet rubber, check the oil filter before the pump is clean and check there is enough oil still in the oil tank.

Knackered, I could be wrong, i'll check tomorrow but I seem to remember the oil reservoir being bone dry, not a drop of oil in it.

John, yes he said the servo motor was kaput, so he left the powervalve permanently open.

I'd like to sort out both issues, obviously.. get the powervalve working, and oil pump pumping so that I don;'t need to run on premix...
