long range fuel tank
Hi from South Afirca. I regularly do rides of 350km's+ per day. Anyone know of a long range fuel tank that will fit an AR? Once in the African bushfeld distance between fuel stops can be rather far apart.
Re: long range fuel tank
I put a rack on the back of mine with a fuel can strapped to it. I've not seen any bigger tanks anywhere. It was a hard enough job finding a rack!
Re: long range fuel tank
I would do a search because I am sure I have seen something about a bigger tank on here before
Re: long range fuel tank
Id imagine with a bit of skill you could retrofit a aftermarket long range tank for an xr400???
Re: long range fuel tank
there is no aftermarket tank that will bolt straight on but if you have the skills, money and patience then you can make anything fit!
AR's rock!!!

Re: long range fuel tank
Its not a massive job fitting an acerbis cr125/250 long range tank on a Mk2 only needed 1 bracket fabricating and welding on cant see the AR needing a deal more
Im thinking about a bike with more valves than a powervalve

It may be easier fitting one of these behind the headlight

That's about 13lbs in weight, quite high up.Then fitting the headlamp could be a mare of a job, but it could be an option.

Re: long range fuel tank
fmtb +1 ,i was concerned about the high up weight so dismissed this option although most of the fuel in the aux tank would have been used in my case getting to the green lanes leaving a full proper tank to use on the lanes,I was also lucky enough to buy the acerbis tank off Mattyhonda for a reasonable price so being a tight fisted sod it was a better option

Re: long range fuel tank
yeah, that fuel is highest, so it will disappear first :)

Re: long range fuel tank
My friend had a CR125RA with Girling Gas rear shocks. He did very well on it.
I got to ride it occasionally but had a TS125 (straight through downpipe
