MK2 wont tick over
Re: MK2 wont tick over
Update time, i've tried the wd40 to no avail and have renewed both clamps for the inlet rubbers, neither the mixture screw or the idle screw make any difference at all but the choke makes some difference but the revs eventually run away. Really quite stuck here now

Are you running premix or autolube

Running out of options ................ next is crank seals ................. then crank cases......

Re: MK2 wont tick over
it's running auto lube atm, the pilot jet is standard as far as i know
Re: MK2 wont tick over
Will the breathers and overflow pipes have anything to do with it? for example the bore on the replacement hose i've used is small than the original and not exactly the same length

Re: MK2 wont tick over
No. The pipes won't effect this ............ unless they are blocked
.

Re: MK2 wont tick over
The new one's i fitted definetly werent blocked, would it be worth removing the rubbers and checking they're not punctured or holed?

You're going to have to strip the carb again, and use the manual of this forum to reassemble, from the info given, something has been put back in the wrong place or order.
Float height springs to mind as the principle culprit.

Ok, would the float be too low to be causing this running issue, is the manual in the FAQ section?

Re: MK2 wont tick over
Could be low float height
. So the level is falling low enough for the jet to suck air.

Re: MK2 wont tick over
I have tried adjusting the height because it was overflowing so maybe it is that i'll try tomorrow

Generally, a sharp RAP on the side of the float bowl will cure a sticking valve.

Re: MK2 wont tick over
ok that sounds a bit promising, would compressed air clear out the valve? I have tried the sharp tap but it was no different

Re: MK2 wont tick over
Check it when you have the carb apart, but budget for a new one.
Some carb cleaner might clean of old emulsion deposits.
