CRM 250 lights
CRM 250 lights
I'm thinking of getting CRM, I do a lot of winter riding and having a good front beam is really important, especially at low rpm, so can anyone say what the front beam is like on CRM ? (If poor are upgrade stator / regulator kits available). Are the electrics generally OK on CRM's..any models better than others.

Re: CRM 250 lights
can only confirm that mk1/2...are ...emmmmm, a candle in the wind is the best description.
others have fitted aftermarket units and i'm sure they will be along in a minute to share their views.
have seen one mk1 or 2 fitted with the twin xr250/xlr250 baja twin units..........which are decent.sure it's one of the overseas chaps with that conversion.....

Re: CRM 250 lights
The AR has the best light but if you search around here you will see other lights people have depends. Depends on the cash you want to spend - TrailTech stuff is top notch.
AR's rock!!!

You will need to search the after market, 35 watts
I frequently get buzzed by fireflies, and they are generally laughing.

Re: CRM 250 lights
If I remember correctly the generator on a Mk2 (only one I could find info on) generates about 125W at 4,000rpm as I remember so there is quite a lot of capactity for lighting. I use a twin beam Trail Tech headlight which is really excellent especially with some 'special' bulbs. Technology has moved so far from when the CRM was made that 'high light/low power bulbs' can be fitted to lots of different headlights. Unforyunately not the standard CRMs though

Re: CRM 250 lights
Hi has anyone out there fitted a battery to a mk 2 ? I am hoping to do a bit of trail/road touring here in New Zealand and want to fit trail tech computer and a baja designs headlight, would rather it came on when i turned the key rather than having to kick start it first, not planning to use heaps of electrical stuff so a little battery will probably do and a little reg/rec to stop it from exploding? Any thoughts?

Re: CRM 250 lights
I'm interested as well...
I just ordered a "chinese" koso... so will let you know how that gets on..
I was worried that it would lose it's settings..

Re: CRM 250 lights
Trail Tech computers have batteries, but they need replaceing about every 9 months. Without them they start up when the engine is running as described. There must be a way of wiring up a bigger battery if you are handy that way.
I would think there is a bettery kit around. There is a company in Daventry, UK, that does custom fit lighting kits for MXers etc that advertises in TBM and other off road mags.......

Re: CRM 250 lights
I'm going to take it to an auto sparky for a estimate to make it a battery powered Crm!! , if i think i can do it myself after chatting with him i will post a step by step for those who are like minded, the way i see it is.... buy a reg/rec to convert stator ac power to battery dc power and add a few fuses... job done! am i simplifying it? or is it that easy? ...or a recipe for BBQ Crm? I will find out.....
