New Coolant Leak!!!

Post by Phil Neal »

Gave my bike a really good clean on the weekend, now I have coolent leaking from the overflow pipe and doesn't grip the radiator anymore and seems very soft?...

Does white Spirits breakdown the rubber in the coolent hoses?

Got me 44t rear sprocket on now, much more civilised on the road...

Phil,

Try replacing the tube...should cost next to nothing and that way you will know for sure.

As for white spirit, I never use anything toclean mine that is stronger that hot soapy water and 'Cif' (great for plastics'.

i was gonna replace the hose....

Thing is, the white spirit did such a brilliant job on the swingarm etc that I got a bit carried away, did the whole bike with it then jet washed it off...then the leak started!

water seams to be coming from the top end where the hose clips in, the clip is just like a twist of springy wire...

Got a free extra week off work 1-7 dec, looks like i'll be stripping thew bike completley :) just to give it all its annual cleaning.
