Oil shower!
Hi,
I know that this question comes up quite often and having looked through the previous posts about it I just wanted to ask one thing regarding the oil spray tan the bike is currently giving anyone who follows me too close.
Quite a bit of oil over the number plate and rear fender after a full on ride. I have now adjusted the oil pump that was set way to high!, but I also suspect the exhaust is now full of crap and it will continue to paint the back of the bike for a while.
Has anyone got any tips to get rid of this, or is it just take the exhaust off and tip it out ?
Cheers

Re: Oil shower!
think the recommended way is caustic soda in the expansion chamber..
and your packing in the muffler might be miffed!
u may also have probs with your power valve gumming up which may want a look at one day,,

Re: Oil shower!
Petrol wash out first- to rid the oil, then dry thoroughly & caustic soda- (drain cleaner often has this in it) - be careful of the alkali fumes- don't breathe them!! Remove & re-pack wadding correctly & new head/exhaust gaskets.

Re: Oil shower!
Thanks Guys, I will give that a go.
I already have a new exhaust gasket on order as that does look a bit rubbish.
I will also give the power valve a good check, I think that is CRM job number 205 booked in for this weekend !!.
One day, I hope it will all be working at the same time and I will have a period of not needing to take it all apart. Or is that just sill talk

No I wont turn to dark orange just yet.

Re: Oil shower!
update,
I have now adjusted the oil pump as this was too high, also changed the airfilter, checked power value and changed 2 stroke oil.
However, at high revs there is still a good covering of oil pushed through the exhaust to cover the rear fender.
It does not seem to do this if i keep the revs down, but who wants to do that ! Other than that the bike runs very well.
Any ideas ?

There is so much oil in your silencer it will keep coming out until you repack it.

Thanks Knackered.
I had a look at this today, but it seems as if it does not come apart (DEP race pipe) does that sound right ?

Re: Oil shower!
Drill out the rivets at the expansion chamber end. Rerivet when you have wrapped the new packing around the perforated tube. Loads of videos on the Web...........
