CRM250AR Electrical Problems
Been having a few problems with my AR.
I had just got the bike out of the garage and given it a good clean and jet wash.
Having washed the bike I started it up and it seemed fine but very soon the temperature warning light started coming on in an intermittent fashion...it would flicker on and off, stay solid for a few seconds, then flicker, then solid, then off etc etc.
I noticed that when the light was on the idle would bog down and as soon as it went out the bike seemed to self regulate and the idle would go back to a healthy normal.
Although the bike was showing the temperature warning light I didn't believe it to be overheating, nothing was particularly hot and I did bleed the coolant system just to eliminate the possibility of an air leak.
I thought maybe I had caused a bad connection when I washed the bike so I went over the bike to dissasemble and clean various connector plugs...I found a number of connector plugs that were really gunked up and horrible, where needed be I removed all the pins cleaned and reassembled.
Having done this I put the bike back together and went to start it...
Now the bike wouldn't even start and had developed a strange fault...
When kicked over the bike would try to light up the neutral light like normal, but along with this the turn signal light would also try lighting up in the same fashion.
Previous history;
I have had the bike since last june and I have noted that the bike has been a bit awkward to start especially after being left even just a little while, I have had a few AR's previously so have an idea of what is normal in regards to starting.
Also the front indicators would be on solid and constantly and their behavior matched that of the headlight, ie if you reved the bike off idle the headlight intensity would increase and so too the indicators.
Prior to my ownership the ecu was repaired by the guy in greece.
Having looked over the forums I am thinking it may be an reg rec problem or ecu??
Can anyone shed some light on all of this?

So,
Looks like you start at the plug on the front of the frame (alternator plug).

Then check V Regulator plug under tank.

Then sidestand plug and switch (if in doubt short both green wires together on this plug to check out system)

From there you will have to check every connection including ignition switch plug as it looks like you have an earth on ignition wires (water)
ECU should be fine, it could only have been repaired for a powervalve problem.

nuetral light on an other electrical anomalies / turn lights - quiet horn - - happened to me -
turned out I had a short feeding the capacitor... ( actually I had a partly severed cable... it had been severed a while - so gave intermitant faults. - this cable was on the right hand side of the headstock - the whole loom is a bit vunerable there especially if your bike does go offroad )

How exuberant were you with the jet wash? It could be you have driven water into areas that will allow it to short out.
Do you have a garden leaf blower I have used these to dry of the bike after washing but prior to storage.

If you jet washed anywhere here you may have a problem if any of the plugs have their rubber sealing ring missing.

30 minutes spent cleaning every electrical plug on the bike would be well spent, break out the electrical spray and WD40.
Not a lot to the loom.....

The bike had been washed quite vigorously with the jet wash
I have been through all the connections, cleaned and dried them and the bike is still showing the same symptoms.
I will have another check over before I try anything else.

Still haven't been able to solve this, reg rec has been swapped but no change.
The stator is producing a good voltage but the coil isn't getting any voltage.
Does this sound likd a dead ecu?

I think I may have made some progress today. I removed the loom, stripped it and re wrapped.
The loom was a little damp inside.
I refitted the loom and turned the bike over, the turn signal light no longer comes on, fingers crossed she will start tomorrow once I have put her back together.
