CRM 250 MK2 Fuel Cap needed

Post by fabianf »

So i bought an mk2 and lost the only key before i made a copy :@. Took the bike to a mechanic and got the lock out, took the lock to a locksmith and had a new pair of keys cut. Now the problem is the new keys work on the lock (obviously) but not the fuel cap. The last 1/4 of the key wont go in no matter what. I didnt even check if the original key worked on the fuel cap so im not sure if its they key or the fuel cap. I'm thinking of drilling the fuel cap and replacing it. I read here: ( viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8532&p=54271&hilit=fuel+cap#p54271 )
that someone has compiled a list of compatible fuel caps. Was wondering if anyone knows of this list or has any advice about my situtation.

Also my chain needs to be replaced and i've been quoted 180 euros for a new one. The most expensive one i found on wemoto.com was 100 euros so i would appreciate your opinion on this too.

Thanks in advance :))

Replace chain and sprockets as a set, it's a false economy not to. Tsubaki, are good, An X ring set is also best. If you have the tool, make up and endless set, that will outlast anything.

MTX ones will fit and are a lot lighter than the original CRM ones. Japanese racers used to replace the standard fuel cap with one off an MTX. No locking though.

The MTX Fuel caps that I found come in two size : 57.5 mm (MTX125) and 47 mm (MTX50 & 80). Any idea on which one will fit. Plus I just realized that I have an MK3 not an MK2

All CRM 250s use the same cap. MTX 125 UK spec is what you want. Original Honda ones don't have a lock but some aftermarket ones do.
