Re: Balance shaft replacement (AR)
Thanks for the pics gregorious77. My balance shaht is not too bad I think. Here is a clearer picture:

It was me who was bashing the crankshaft...
Funny I send crankshaft to LT few days ago (together with a cylinder to rebore) but they called yesterday and said nothing is wrong with it! I thought the play was excessive, but seems it's within tolerances. I didn't felt up and down play though.
Another question: should I install this washer with the OUT side out? I think it was to the inside on my engine.

And talking about machining and lathes, I am half way through my "Introduction to turning" 6 weeks evening course in Uxbridge College. Enjoying it, but ultimately I wish I had a lathe at home. My plan now is to make the countershaft bearing tool- Thanks for dimensions Knackered!

Sorry, forgot to ask: Is that original expansion chamber you was working on or the one in a video? Because I have quite a big dent too and would like to get rid of it, but heard that it wont work on originals because of double walls

That's correct, you won't be able to get the dents out of an original pipe due to double skin2stroke wrote: but heard that it wont work on originals because of double walls

Washer out is out, and looks like it was out when fitted.
When out is in, the inner should be on the outside and vice versa, apart from when the in is out then the reverse applies, unless you are viewing from the left and rotating counterclockwise
.
A lathe will be ok at home, but ultimately you need a milling machine as well, as everything seems to require milling after turning, unless you are just making spacers etc.

took it out for a shakedown last weekend and it was sweet as a sweet thing. All nice and quiet vibe free and crisp.
