hi Greg,
just curious as to where in the world the AR that your brother has just bought was?
i've had my eye on a "P" '98 AR in the Coventry area, just waiting on funds!
Its not been on ebay yet, but hes had it on offer for over 12 months, a tidy white one.
have i got to find another to aim for?
sounds like the same bike, he was after £1575 back in March, so i'd say your bro got a bargain, lets hope it runs as well as it looks
he used to advertise it every now & again on enduro news, and in the last ad he was after £1450.
it wasn't so much hesitation as complete lack of funds, i've a major rear garden landscaping project on the go........my time will come
i'd be interested in how the AR pits against your Mk2, keep us informed.

As promised we put my mk2 & wor younguns AR head2head & the outcome was, really a miss match. The mk2 is crisp, revs cleanly & has a distinct power band, whereas the AR feels under powered and very 'four stroke ish' to the point where he wondered if he'd purchased a XL125 in disguise. Is this normal for an AR in standard trim? Any comments would be welcome as he's feeling a bit deflated.

I've just bought an AR as well Greg and from what I've read and been told, what you say is right. The AR comes into it's own apparantly where you're looking for traction - seems to find it better than those with peakier power. I could be wrong and I'm sure someone will smack me on the head pronto if I am.......
I'm enjoying mine though - having not ridden the others, I reckon it goes ok. Actually entered a 3-hour hare and hounds with it this coming weekend - can't wait.

Cross-threading[1], is the throttle position sensor plugged in? (Or was that the same AR?)
[1] Not in the inept-mechanic way
