I think the caged bearings may have a couple of rollers less than uncaged.

£2 bargain.

thats some good news for once!

actually I did get some bargains on the bearing front.

for instance my main bearings were a fiver each new ( japanese made too! )

jus the weird size ones ( balance shaft particularly ) I had to use LT - and that shot the price up..

lets see if they last a couple of years...

pretty much replaced every bearing in the engine.

and the suspension -

and front yokes- actually struggling to get bottom bearing for yokes on - i put yoke in fridge hoping that will help - but wondering how to heat the bearin up..

maybe I need a pipe to bash em on? ( worried these were from LT so not so cheap.. ) ( i know saw some on ebay later :( )

You can stick the bearing in your oven for half an hour. I normally set oven at about 150 degrees Celsius. Only problem is food tastes of oil/grease for a few meals :).

Simplybearings are quite good for bearings and seals in the UK

:? ^^^^ Do you mean steering stem :?: That would make sense. Treating the two parts to different ranges of the temperature scale would marginally increase the tolerances between them, thus making there reassembly easier.
For the swinging arm bearings, the reverse would be the case, heat the swinging arm, freeze the bearings, but generally a good vice and an appropriate sized socket normally suffices.

steering stem...

yep socket did the trick on the swinger...

think I need to find a bit of pipe the right size? worried I will break the Leisuretrail supplied bearing..

and looking at the races in the headstock with horror!!!

Yep, a bit of pipe to match the top of the bearings diameter, and nylon or copper hammer, oh, and a big dose of machismo
