I've had a bog standard mk2 for the last two and a half years and always thought what a brilliant trail bike it is. The only thing I don't like about it is the way the engine surges / knocks / pinks / hunts, or whatever you want to call it on de-celleration. I've been told by other owners that this is normal and can be improved by changing the exhaust system but I don't want to do this because I want to keep it quiete and tractable, and although heavier, the std system is stronger than aftermarket ones.
Another thing, when the bike's been stood for a few days it's a bit of a pig to start unless you drain the float chamber first.Any advice on these peculiarities would be much appreciated, thanks.

Thing one....changing exhaust will help,Otherwise accept the rattle and roll

Thing two ,,,,The only reason i could think of for draining the float chaimber is because water has got it somehow ,, Remember , Water is heavier than petrol and will sink,,If you get rain in your cap and then tank ,It will drain down into your float bowl..Check the seal on your filler cap and the air filter housing and stuff for leaks ,,
