Has anyone managed to strip and clean the powervalve on their CRM?

I would be grateful for any instructions, things to look for, etc.

gidday bargos. there is a way to clean the power valve with out stripping the top end. my valve was seized solid!!! first remove the expansion chamber & rc valve cover. elevate the bike at the rear (around 30 deg)remove valve actuator arm the arm secured to the valve shaft by a 10 mill nut & washer) remove the seal behind the arm(you will need to replace the seal). wind piston to top dead centre ( to stop entry of foreign material into the cylinder). spray the shaft through the exhaust port (where it pivots) & also around the shaft in the rc cover with carby cleaner or a similar solvent.( the shafts usually seize up due to carbon build up & carby cleaner will disolve it) work the shaft open & shut ( all the time spraying it with carby cleaner) until the shaft is movable by hand. work some thin oil around the shaft after it has freed up. reassemble with new seal & bob's ya uncle. this little jaunt should take about half to an hour. hope this helps. let me know how ya went.

Nothing to do with the cleaning but more with keeping it clean, my MK 3 used to gum up the power valve fairly quickly when I ran it on synthetic oil, I switched to a semi syn and the valve was a lot better, this also helped the tickover.
Just a thought as this helped lots on my bike.
