Just picked up a 91 CRM 250. Its in very good condition, the prior owner rebuilt the motor from the crank up (800.00 in reciepts)

I Have only ridden the bike a few times, but its great fun. I would like to turn it in to a SM and have been looking for suitable rims. For the time being I will probably stick some Avon AM43/AM44 tires on it.
It currently has road legal knobbies(very aggressive knobs) and the front end wanders a bit on the road. Heres a quick pic of the bike.

its a very nice.mine looked like that after i rebuilt it,now it looks 40 yrs old from the off road abuse

welcome along pfrazer! theres loads of posts on the forum about moto wheels, ive looked at em quite a bit and come to the conclusion that its probably best to re lace them onto the origoinal hubs, it seems the least hassle

bike looks good are you just going to use it on the road?, if so lace some 17's on to your own hubs..which is probably the easiest way to go...and you can use the same discs sprox etc.

I think that I am going to stick to road use for the bike.
If I can find some OEM hubs cheap I may have some rims made up. That would give me the option of swapping wheels for off road/ on road use.

Best to have both sets of wheels if you can
I did my first dualsport trip last Saturday and even with MX tyres on I blitze everyone else out that day (650GS, KLR, CR250) even surprised some crotch rockets going over the black mountain, should have seen their faces when a 250 smoke went b'ding ding blatting past them round the hairpins
It was comfortable all day in the saddle with plenty of power and non of that buzzy feeling you get with most smokers
So good in fact it's kind of made my KLR obsolete

Think I might sell both my KLR and my MK3 and go out to get an AR plus SM wheels, maybe sometime in the future get a bigger bike too but it'd have to be something like a Buell Ulysses cos the CRM will do anything below 100mph better than most
Rekon they make an awesome supermoto compared to the likes of CCM R30/644/404 etc and with easy/low maintenance I don't think you can go wrong
