I have a 1999 CRM250AR. I am having Powervalve problems with it. I have read the huge post written by scrubbs.
Heres what ive done.
I pulled the servo apart and it all looks fine.. Attatched 12v to the motor and it spins no problems. I have messed around with the powervalve and it feels free and loose. I pulled the servo apart and measured resistance over the potentiometer.
I placed Neg on the far left of the three. I get 4.8-4.9k across the two of them next to the left. But if i put the neg on the right of the three the one in the middle (i think) gets like 0 and the one of the left gets 4-8-4.9k.

Think is. If i force wind the motor out a little bit.. Start the bike it winds it back automatically to where it should be? so im getting confused. When i rev the bike it just wont move.. wont budge..

Please help! Im at ends with this. Bloody honda.. Why couldnt they just use a mechanical system like everyone else.

Mate, I know excatly how you feel plus I had the additional problem of being in Uganda so sourcing parts is a big prob. I too followed the fault finding guide and was convinced my CDI had died but because I was so fed up I just splashed out and got a second hand PV servo unit, CDI and a new reg/rect. Just last week I installed the reg/rect and cdi then yesturday I ran it for the first time and guess what - PV still didn't move . So I put the PV servo unit on and now it works - yet I had checked out the pot and motor and ran them from 9v battery off the wires from the CDI and they moved ok. I wonder whether messing with the PV servo unit offset something so the CDi got confused. I have yet to try the old CDI back on and I have only run the bike once so I am not getting too excited yet as the original prob was intermittant PV operation anyway!
My recommendation would be to buy those main bits and swap them out one at a time if you can afford it (you will always be able to sell the ones you don't need after) or ask for the asisstance of someone on the forum to swap bits between two bikes. Just remember that if you swap CDIs then swap the Reg/Rect too.
