I bought a MK2 a few weeks ago and after replacing the balance shaft bearings and some seals its all good.

Been exploring the local gravel lanes since saturday, now i want to try somewhere more interesting.

Thinking of joing the TRF but got no money now, anyone know of anywhere good to ride until then? prefereably with as little tarmac as possible, as I have almost worn out a brand new rear tyre in 5 days.

Hello Will, and welcome, 5 DAYS and you've shagged a tyre out .
You might want to try a MITAS rear tyre, they are reputed to last forever.
I'm sure we have some guys up in your neck of the woods, who could give you a run out.
When finances permit I would certainly advocate joining the TRF, in the mean time, as long as you don't take the pixx, I'm sure the local TRF will take you out.
You can always buy some O.S. MAPS ' explorer are the favourite 50'OOO SCALE .
from which you can reasonably plan your own day out.
The road designation you are looking for is B.O.A.T.s or Byways Open to All traffic, which is a Green line with short green cross bars regularly spaced along it[ not Bridleways ] look min the legend at the bottom of the map.
I won't deny, this is hard work, but i have found the only way to really learn the network of local legal lanes is to get out there and find them for yourself, which is slow, at first, but if there are a couple of you, it's great fun , and the exile ration of the first ride along a new lane is quite addictive.

Thanks, I'll try a MITAS see how it lasts, any idea what the grip is like? The Vee Rubbers on it are extremely grippy on the road in the wet or dry, it corners as well as my husaberg supermoto with them on :) here's how its lasted.

Also going to get some OS maps and see what I can find, I don't imagine there will be much of interest near me so I'll try one for the Bowland Forest too or maybe north Wales. If anyone else is after any Millets has a buy one get one half price at the moment, I also get 30% discount as my sister works there :)
