Been lurking for years but decided to join as I feel the itch for a 2 stroke motard.

The CRM may scratch that itch as I love old school Honda looks and Honda "Red" ;-)

In Jersey so a speed weapon isnt really what I need, more for the twisties and 40Mph ish fun. How tunable are they if I find it a bit lacking and I am assuming it is a huge myth that the CR250 motor goes anywhere near to fitting the CRM.

What kind of power does say a standard MkII put out and are they fun on the road with 17" on them?

I know you guys will suggest a CR250 and get it registered, no way will that ever happen here. Our DVS make your DVLA look helpful. So for an nice old school 2 stroke the CRM does fit the bill. Anyone sent their motor away to get tuned to a 2 stroke specialist??

Cheers

Bully

Welcome mate! You can tune them, but you will find most bits are nowadays unobtainable... however it does depend how far you want to go. You can machine the head/base depending on what you want out of your bike, polish ports, new reeds, exhaust etc etc.

Knackered mk1 had Stan Stephens do some work on tuning his barrel I think, I'm sure he will fill you in, although he's been a bit quiet recently...??

Not sure on the CR motor.... but I am sure it wouldn't be as reliable!! And then you'd have to modify wiring etc...

Hi mate, 17" wheeled crms are a good crack!

If your average speed is gonna be 40mph and the roads are twisty filled, then a crm is powerful enough. I whinged about more power required but that was for major roads, and riding with people on plastic rocket sports bikes.

Go get one dude, you'll love it!!! :D

Thanks for the replies guys. I have always liked Spokeys CRM motard, he put pics of it years ago on Visordown (before it went downhill!!).

Re the CR250 motor, that would be the easiest way of making the bike faster if it needed it. Re teh wiring, battery in the airbox is the simplest way to sort that lol.

You can put a battery in the air box if you want, but theres no need really, crms dont have batteries... Well, 250s dont.

Lol what I meant was that if a CR motor was installed they dont have coils so for lights then a battery would be needed. I know electrex do a coil but they are about as useful as having a candle on the bars.

No daylight only MOT here either, must have lights/horn working. bah.
