I have just recently purchased a 1996 honda ATK crm250 apparently it was imported into aust in 1998 and is classed as a grey import which means no dealers in australia stock any parts for this bike :(

Welcome
what does the ATK mean?
looks like you have a mk3 - you should still be able to get any parts from your local honda dealer if you give them the part number.
check out the 'FAQ's - check here first' section for lots of info. there are several other members from Austarlia on here so you are not alone!!!

not very sure at all on the ATK part mate- thats what is stamped in the on the complience plate alot of the dealers are also stumped by the marking- most of the dealers have put it down to something that was added when the bike was being complied here in Australia for the first time. Before i handed cash over to get the bike i was told that the bike was actually a 1996 frame with a 1998 engine- i think this is because the complience plate is maked 1996 Honda ATK CRM 250 and states that it was built in 6/98 however the dealers tell me that this was more than likely the month and year that the bike was complied to meet with australian standards- all in all its one hell of a find as none of the dealers will admit to bringing one of the CRM250 to australia before 1999
Thanks heaps for the help Skidmarks the help was greatly appreciated and i hope that gives you a bit more info towards the bike- if not confuses the smoke out of you as it did me

lol- you spy very well mike and from looking at your prfile you seem to be quite a crm buff- took pics of the better side as the other side looks like a mk2 side plate has been modified to fit but is only held on with one bolt and definitely looks well out of place. Any help on a good place to source the plastics from?

It's probably going to be the dreaded Ebay, un;less someone's breaking one.
Leisure Trail, if you have a deep wallet.
