Mk2 expansion pipe bolts

Hi, can anyone confirm that the 2 bolts that connect the expansion pipe to the engine are m8 x 1.25 and are the threaded holes closed? As I'm wanting to drill out the bolt and the possibility of having to use a holicoil without metal shavings going in the crankcase and messing up the engine. Any help would be much appreciated.

Has one snapped? I'm fairly sure you're correct, but if doing the job in situ, is it the only course of action?

They are closed (but don't drill too deeply) and they are M8. I strongly suspect they are x 1.25. They are the worst for snapping off. Almost all the cylinders/barrels I have come into contact with have exhaust studs that have snapped or are so seized they will snap if you try to remove them.
When you put the new ones in give them a copious coating of antiseize, or copperslip if you don't have any.

Thanks for prompt reply. There closed that's a relief. I do have a small stud showing but no thread on it. I've tried heat, pliers and socket but it won't budge at all. I was looking at a screw extractor but don't fancy snapping one and leaving it in the bolt. I'm probably going to center punch and go up the drill bits and hopefully keep the thread intact
