Oil level sensor question

Post by MFerioli » 20 May 2014, 10:14

I purchased a new oil level sensor and it came with a clear plastic tube over the float, do I leave that on or is that just a protective cover? The one I pulled out didn't have the cover, it was also bound up and not sliding up and down. I had to change it due to massive leaking.

Thanks for the help,
Mike

Any chance you know the part number?
I think I need to order one soon, it's showing signs of starting to leak

They almost all leak. Try to make the seal better. Remove the sensor and thoroughly clean the rubber on the sensor and the mounting pipe. Try to rough them up a bit with fine emery or wet & dry. Then run a small amount of oil proof sealant on both surfaces and reinstall. Has worked fine for me on several CRMs.

Otherwise part numbers are in the manual downloads in FAQs ..........
