hi all,
i now have the engine out, all seems ok except the conrod is seized on the crankshaft end... thought it might be an idea to check in here and see if anyone has any pointers on going further, its been a while since iv had an crankcase split!

iv just taken off the barrel and found the piston completely free! it still wont kick over and i put it in gear and it still wont turn the engine when i push the bike....
the gearbox seems to move from 1st to neutral easily, so does this mean a bottom end seize??

very true, and i have crashed twice in thailand, once on a ped, and once on a chopper, i was lucky to come off with cuts and bruises... i know this sounds crazy but it feels normal to wear no protection and even very little clothing when riding in thailand... i guess its the hot sticky weather and t...

flash, where do you ride in thailand? i have rented a few crossers in thailand but iv only got hold of tame 4 strokes... iv been to ko samet twice, only the port is tarmac'd and the rest of the island is mud and hills! i felt like a king compared to all the scooters with knobbles, and i was on a 250...

its been pointed out to me that when the 2 stroke level is at the bottom of the sight tube that it in fact still 3/4 full, so i dont think i had used all that much oil. i did check the gearbox oil level and it was the same as before it seized. but if it had hydrolically locked, what would be the sol...

Thought as much, and I meant seized not ceased!
I was planning to run the bike through the winter and then refurb next summer, looks like I will be undertaking a winter project....

took the bike out yesterday to seaton area near the viaduct, bike felt great, found a few ramps along a dtch and managed to get airbourne (fun). bike broke down near home, hopefully it was just out of fuel, but i switched to reserve and couldnt get it going. it turned over but was very stiff (hope i...
