MK2 Front forks
MK2 Front forks
Guys,
Ive reconditioned the front forks on my MK2, new seals, strip, rebuild and 625ml of fork oil from Leisuretrail. I finally got the chassis rolling last night but the front end feels a bit, how can I put it, lame! It just doesnt feel quite as taut as I think it should be or am I expecting too much - what can I do to test?

was given an interesting tip from my mate who spent 8 years with Maxton.
if you buy cheap fork oil, its all the same grade, and you should buy ATF fluid which is the correct grade and contains lots of additives to prevent corrosion.
Also if you buy v expensive fork oil then these are the good grade with the above added but twice the price of ATF

ATF Fluid
In my opinion my mk2 has too soft a suspension ( I'm 95Kg ) so I'm looking to tweak in someway.
Having only been a CRM owner for a couple of months now I'm still looking into the options, so ATF was of particular interest.
After poking around I found the following site with mixed opinions.
Anybody currently/have been using ATF, what's the verdict ?
Any probs with fork seals ?
Read for yourself at URL below :

I know this site is machine specific, but are the generic issues when using ATF ?
Thanks in advance
