Having just been their myself recently, I can recommend the following.
The bracket at the end of the exhaust expansion chamber can be loosened at the frame and can move lots. To join the pipe and the exhaust, go to Halfords and buy for about £5 a joining strip that has a built in 'turnbuckle' thing. Before tightening it, it is worth covering the join with exhaust in fire cement which also comes from Halfords. (It is worth joining the ppe and the expansion chamber, without connecting either of the two brackets that hold the expansion chgamber on...they have lots of movement in them and can be adjusted once the rest is seated.)
Good luck, it is very fiddly but works eventually..I got through three exhaust gaskets before I got the front pipe to seat properly
