speedo drive

Post by raveydavey » 24 Jun 2008, 09:29

I've just discovered that if the previous owner removes the speedo unit and speedo cable and then plugs the top of the speedo drive with mud and grit and leaves for a couple of years that it strips the bevelled thread on the plastic inner drive part. :(

Anybody know if this plastic part can be purchased as a separate item, and if so any idea on part number???

Cheers

I brought a trailtech! haha

The speedos are always going wrong, ditch it and bung a trailtech on - Job done!

Buying the trailtech will work out cheaper than a new speedo drive anyway! unless you can find one secondhand.

I saw an exact replica of the trailtech made by some chinese company a few months ago on ebay. Had all the same features and was backlit and everything for just £10!!

I was gonna buy a few and sell them on again... why didnt i!!!!

now i cant find them as they were under some weird description.

Sorted :D - Got the bits from Fowlers here in Bristol. (Parts are for CRM125 (1997) but obviously must be common across most Honda's with cable driven speedos)

plastic part = speedometer gear - part no. 44806-KFO-000
2 washers - part no. 44809-402-000

£19.88 inc VAT. (for a bit of plastic & 2 washers !!!!! :( )
