Crank Shaft Seals
Crank Shaft Seals
Hi all
I have stripped my engine down, but I have not split the crank cases. I have removed clutch, flywheel ect, to replace water pump shaft. I can clearly see the crank seals, is it possible to hook them out and replace them without splitting the crank cases? I have a new pair of seals and would like to fit them as a matter of course, providing I don't have to split the crank cases. I have done a search and found contradicting information on this.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks
pmac.

Re: Crank Shaft Seals
Hi PMAC i changed the seal behind the magneto on the A/R from the outside , and that was a straight forward job .I went for the double lipped VITON seal as a replacement ,and it's given no grief thus far.
I sourced that from Simply bearings , and got a superior seal for the cost of a standard jobbie £9 or there about's .
I simply tapped a couple of self tapping screws at opposite sides across the diameter of the seal and just eased it out .
Regards Mike

Re: Crank Shaft Seals
Are you meaning that it is an import to the USA or from the USA
. CRM250s are very rare in the US, to find one that was imported into the US and then to the UK is very unlikely
. Some history with this bike
.

bit of an aside but where were CRMs officially sold? just Japan? Australia?knackeredMk1 wrote:Are you meaning that it is an import to the USA or from the USA. CRM250s are very rare in the US, to find one that was imported into the US and then to the UK is very unlikely

Yes it can, but what symptoms is the bike displaying to lead you to your conclusion?twosmokeforever wrote:hi & yeap i'm a newbie, as you can guess I love strokers and I have been offered a crm mk11 for the right money but the crank seal on the pri side (the side with the gear oil) is suspect can it also be changed without spliting the cases???

Re: Crank Shaft Seals
To answer Skidmark's question - I believe all Mks were officially sold in Japan. ARs were sold officially in Australia for 2 years. All other sales were not officially sanctioned by Honda.

Re: Crank Shaft Seals
usa to uk is what I was told, I will HPI it if I buy
the guy that is selling told me its the crank seal, but the syptoms don't show it
its just losing gear oil onto the floor, I think it is one of the exterior seals or damage to the case
If I buy I will be back many thanks for your help!

Re: Crank Shaft Seals
