Hoses

Post by dom » 02 Apr 2010, 15:09

My bike has been run on premix by previous owner. I am going to test the autolube system to see if it still works. My question is if I replace the hose on the frame and feed pipes with clear hose would plastic or silicone hose be best?

Anything as long as it's impervious to, and unaffected by oil.

tried a mixture of both silicone and plastic, seems okay i will let you know more if either leak. the bike has sat for a week with no fuel and after fitting the new hoses i re-fitted the tank and put in some petrol only to find that when the fuel tap was turned on and before starting the engine petrol was leaking from and overflow pipe. i turned of the fuel tap and drained some fuel from the carb, re tried and no leaks. would this indicate that the float had got stuck?

either stuck slightly or a small bit of debris in the fuel are the most likely cause.

Tap it gently with a hammer.
